KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A commercial jet bound for Denver made an unscheduled landing Tuesday at Kansas City International Airport after its windshield cracked, a spokesman said.

The United Airlines plane, which had 70 people on board, landed safely about 7:45 a.m., the Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported.

The flight originated in St. Louis and was operated by GoJet Airlines, a flying partner of United Airlines.

United Airlines spokesman Jeff Kovick said the pilots were correct to land the aircraft as a precaution. United Airlines will assist GoJet in investigating how the windshield crack occurred, he said.
