MUMBAI, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- At least six foreigners were among the 101 people killed in a series of coordinated terrorist attacks in Mumbai, officials said Thursday.

The nationalities of the slain foreigners were still being verified, but the Italian consulate said at least one of them was from Italy, CNN reported.

Among the 314 people wounded in Wednesday's attacks were seven British and two Australian citizens, officials told the broadcaster.

The Israeli Consulate in Mumbai searched for its nationals at hospitals and other locations, other media reports said.

Gunmen were reported at the Nariman House, a favorite of Israeli tourists. CNN said gunmen also remained in the Chabad House, home to several Jewish families.

Among the hostages there was Rabbi Gabriel Holtzberg, the Jewish community's envoy to Mumbai, a member of the Hasidic Jewish movement told the broadcaster.

The couple's 18-month-old baby was released unharmed, the spokesman said.
