WASHINGTON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Peter Orszag, announced Tuesday as President-elect Barack Obama's choice to head the Office of Management and Budget, has a dazzling resume.
Orszag, 40, became head of the Congressional Budget Office in January 2007 after Democrats took control of the House and Senate. Before joining the CBO, he was a fellow of the Brookings Institute and head of its Hamilton Project, which studies ways to achieve growth and economic security.
Earlier, he graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University and the London School of Economics and served in the White House during the Clinton administration.
Orszag is a protege of Robert Rubin, who served as treasury secretary under former President Bill Clinton, U.S. News and World Report said. During the Bush administration, he and three other Clinton alumni, his brother, Joseph Orszag, Joseph Stiglitz and Laura D'Andrea Tyson, founded an economic consulting firm, Sebago Associates.
On the personal side, Orszag is divorced and has a son and daughter. He is an enthusiastic runner who has participated in marathons and spends much of his free time listening to country music and reading.
