KUWAIT, Kuwait, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The Kuwaiti Cabinet has resigned and the speaker of Parliament canceled Wednesday's session after government ministers walked out Tuesday, officials said.
The resignations were the latest chapter in a power struggle between the government of Kuwait's emir, Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Sabah, and its parliament, which is dominated by opposition politicians, CNN reported.
Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Sabah tendered his government's resignation, but the emir indicated he wouldn't decide whether to accept the resignations for the time being, KUNA, the Kuwait News Agency, reported. Kuwaiti officials said the government would continue functioning "for the good of the nation and citizens" for the time being.
Earlier in the day, government ministers walked out of the parliamentary chamber after some MPs questioned Nasser about why a prominent Iranian cleric had been allowed to enter Kuwait despite a court order barring him, CNN said.
