The New York Times reported Tuesday that the institute -- All Kinds of Minds -- worked to train teachers to help children with learning disabilities. The center was co-founded by financial services magnate Charles Schwab, who provided financing.
All Kinds of Minds has teacher-training contracts with two states and dozens of individual schools. Despite Levin's troubles, the center said it would continue its work.
"All Kinds of Minds was formed to create a venue and legacy for his work so the genius of this man wouldn't die with the individual," Mary-Dean Barringer, chief executive of the institute, told the Times. "Do I think we'll make it through without him? I do."
Levine, who voluntarily suspended his license to practice and is under investigation by the North Carolina Medical Board, has denied ever touching a patient sexually. No criminal charges have been filed against him.
