KABUL, Afghanistan, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai says U.S. President-elect Barack Obama has assured him the United States will continue to aid his nation.
Karzai said Saturday he had spoken by phone with Obama and the president-elect told him he would do what he could to bring peace to the war-torn Middle Eastern country, CNN reported.
Karzai again congratulated Obama on his Nov. 4 election victory and extended best wishes that his presidency would bring prosperity for the American people, a Karzai spokesman told reporters.
Obama's transition team did not comment on the call, CNN said.
