PLANT CITY, Fla., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Four people were injured in Plant City, Fla., when a motorcycle stunt event featuring police officers went horribly wrong, victims say.

Pamela Knight, whose ankle was injured in the Plant City Police Department event, said a police motorcyclist was taking part in a radar gun demonstration when the vehicle failed to stop and crashed into observers, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Saturday.

Officer Chad Rader was among those hurt when his motorcycle crashed into event bleachers last Tuesday. Also injured was Police Chief Bill McDaniel and 42-year-old Lynn Connor.

Injuries to Connor's leg forced the victim to undergo a blood transfusion and two surgeries, leading doctors to estimate a long recovery period.

While both Connor and Knight suspect the accident may have been caused by Rader losing control of the motorcycle, police refused to comment on the specifics.

McDaniel said an investigation into the matter was under way, the Times reported.
