Fifty-eight years ago, on Nov. 25, 1950, Luna's unit, the 8th Army Range Company, came under heavy attack from the Chinese army in what became known as the Battle of the Ch'ongch'on River. Of the 91 men in Luna's group, only 22 made it to safety. Luna was one of 10 reported missing the next day.

Ten years ago, a North Korean girl found possible American remains near her school and a subsequent search of the site turned up Luna's remains, the Defense Department said.
