HIALEAH, Fla., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Archbishop John C. Favalora of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami has prayed for the safe return of a sacred jeweled box to an area church.

The Miami Herald reported the Miami archbishop prayed during a Mass Saturday that a stolen sacred tabernacle find its way back to John the Apostle Catholic Church in Hialeah, Fla.

The box, imported to the church from Spain, was stolen last week from the church.

The tabernacle, which has been valued at $8,000, contains the body of Jesus Christ in the form of the eucharist, according to the Catholic faith.

The Archdiocese of Miami has labeled the box's theft as sacrilege since it contains the eucharist and area Catholics have begun praying for its safe return, the Herald said.
