BRISBANE, Australia, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Human remains found in a saltwater crocodile in northern Australia have been confirmed to be those of a man who disappeared in September.

Arthur Booker, 63, was last seen by his wife when he went to check crab pots in the Endeavour River in northern Queensland. His watch and a shoe were found along with signs that a crocodile had been in the area.

The remains were found in a 15-foot-long crocodile captured in the river in early October, the Brisbane Courier-Mail reported. A forensic laboratory confirmed this week that the DNA matched Booker's.

Booker, who immigrated to Australia from Scotland when he was young and served with Australian forces in Vietnam, lived near Brisbane. He and his wife were on a camping vacation when he vanished.

Crocodiles are common in the Endeavour River on the York Peninsula.
