Suspect caught in Calif. triple slaying

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Police Saturday apprehended a man they say shot and killed three people at his former place of employment in Santa Clara, Calif.

Santa Clara police said they picked up Jing Hua Wu of Mountain View, Calif. -- whom they described as "armed and extremely dangerous" -- at 10:45 a.m. in Mountain View, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Wu, an engineer who had recently been laid off, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on three counts of homicide.

Sgt. Jerry Rodriguez of the Santa Clara Police alleged Wu opened fire Friday at SiPort, a semiconductor company, killing company Chief Executive Officer Sid Agrawal; Brian Pugh, vice president of operations; and Marilyn Lewis, head of human resources, the Chronicle said.

The newspaper said Wu was a lead product test engineer at the 4-year-old company. He has resided for more than a decade with his wife and three sons in a two-story, three-bedroom home at the end of a cul-de-sac.

"He wasn't a big talker, but he was friendly," said one neighbor, Eric Johnson. "Not the kind of guy you'd expect that would be involved in something like this. Geez, I wouldn't even have thought he'd own a gun."
