10 militants slain in Afghanistan raid

KABUL, Afghanistan, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Ten Taliban militants and foreign fighters were slain Saturday in eastern Afghanistan in a U.S.-led raid, officials said.

The assault in the Zadran District was aimed at what U.S. military officials said was a group known to conduct roadside bombing campaigns against coalition forces and civilians, CNN reported.

Also Saturday, Afghan National Police announced they and coalition forces had arrested an alleged insurgent leader during another raid in eastern Afghanistan, CNN said. They said the man is believed responsible for attacks on military forces and in the kidnappings of humanitarian aid workers.
