Pair guilty of high-tech immigration fraud

LONDON, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Two men have been convicted of using a concealed camera, microphone and radio link to coach Chinese immigrants through a British immigration test.

The multiple-choice "knowledge of life" exam is a multiple-choice test given in English. Investigators said that Steve Lee and Rong Yang equipped their clients with tiny cameras which could show them the exam paper and then told them through the communications link which boxes to fill in on the answer sheet, The Times of London reported.

Lee and Yang were arrested outside the library in the London suburb of Wimbledon in March. Police were tipped off by someone who noticed wires running from under the hood of their BMW to the interior of the car.

Ka Hung Pan, who had taken the test that day, was with them, the report said. While police were questioning the three, another man, En Zhuang, arrived with a 1,000-pound ($1,500) payment in his pocket.

Lee and Yang were sentenced to eight months each in prison. Their clients were ordered to perform 180 hours of community service.
