HAVANA, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A photo of ailing former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro has surfaced for the first time in many months.

The picture of the frail-looking former Cuban president appeared on a Web site for the Russian Orthodox Church, the BBC reported Friday.

The Web site said the photo was taken Oct. 20 at the consecration of a Russian Orthodox church in Havana.

The 81-year-old Fidel turned over authority to his brother Raul in July 2006 after announcing he was suffering from an undisclosed gastrointestinal illness. He was last seen on TV in mid-January of this year and Raul was made Cuba's official leader in February.
