HARARE, Zimbabwe, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has officially begun the process toward creating a new government for his country, an official says.

Information Minister Cde Sikhanyiso Ndlovu said that under recommendations from last weekend's Sadc Extraordinary Summit the Zimbabwean leader has taken steps to bring about the creation of the new government, The Herald said Friday.

Ndlovu said Thursday that because of the president's attempts to follow the recommendations the international community should lift sanctions imposed upon Zimbabwe.

"Given that the president is in the process, as I speak, of forming an inclusive government, I am, therefore, calling upon the British, Americans and the European Union to immediately lift the illegal economic sanctions which are hurting the ordinary citizens," the minister said.

Ndlovu also reiterated his stance that Zimbabwe is a sovereign state that should be free from outside interference, the Herald said.

"As president of a sovereign state, President Mugabe has the authority derived from the constitution to form the new government," Ndlovu said.
