ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A U.S. forensic expert Friday inspected evidence from the car belonging to Casey Anthony, 22, who is suspected in the death of her young daughter Caylee.

The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported that forensic expert for the defense Henry Lee inspected carpet from the trunk and the tire cover, said police Capt. Angelo Nieves.

Lee gained national prominence during the 1994 case against O.J. Simpson in which he was accused -- and later acquitted -- of killing his wife and friend.

The defense was given permission to examine the car after Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland granted a motion to allow access to the vehicle and conduct its own tests.

The car has been stored in a garage at the sheriff's office since July when Anthony was first arrested. She faces first-degree murder charges.

Three-year-old Caylee has been missing since mid-June. Police say they believe the girl was killed.
