FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A third-grader in a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., school brought a gun to class Friday, officials said.

The student at Walker Elementary School showed the weapon to a classmate at around 10:40 a.m., South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Friday.

School officials recovered the gun, questioned the student and called police, the newspaper said.

Police Sgt. Frank Sousa said the case was still being investigated and no decision had been made on whether the student will face charges.

The incident comes two days after Dillard High School sophomore Teah Wimberly allegedly shot and killed classmate Amanda Collette on the school's Fort Lauderdale campus.
