GREENSBURG, Pa., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced for throwing a garden gnome through a glass door in a drunken rage injuring his 16-year-old stepdaughter.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said Thursday that during the sentencing portion of his trial in Westmoreland County, Pa., 32-year-old Charles S. Morrison interrupted Judge Rita Hathaway.
"Obviously, you don't care," the defendant yelled before being restrained by two sheriff's deputies Wednesday.
Morrison was convicted on Aug. 19 of charges ranging from child endangerment to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for throwing the 2-pound gnome through a glass door on Feb. 14.
The drunken incident left Morrison's teenage stepdaughter with a laceration on her face.
The newspaper said Hathaway chastised Morrison for his outburst, before sentencing the man to two to four years in prison.
"Obviously, you're not thinking right because of the anger you've just displayed," said the judge, who also ordered Morrison to serve five years probation and get substance abuse treatment.
