NEW DELHI, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- India Wednesday successfully tested a ballistic missile capable of reaching deep into neighboring Pakistan and China, sources told Press Trust India.

Defense sources said the Shaurya medium-range tactical missile was launched Wednesday morning from a silo at the Integrated Test Range in Chandiour.

The Shaurya is designed to carry conventional warheads up to 1 ton and has a range of 372 miles.

The weapon can be transported in a canister but is apparently not a land-based version of India's K-15 submarine-launched missile, PTI said.
