CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- No serious injuries were reported when a school bus was hit by a steel beam dropped from a crane at a Wachovia tower construction site in Charlotte, N.C.

Several 7-foot beams fell from the crane Monday, smashing windows in the side of the tower, putting a 3-foot dent in the roof of the school bus, and damaging at least one car and a truck, The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported Tuesday. The bus was not carrying students.

Falling debris dented the top of a truck owned by Anita Ramirez, of York, S.C., the Observer said.

"I started hearing the glass falling. The other guy, the guy in front of me, he didn't seem to react. He didn't move. So I got around him in a hurry," Ramirez said. "That was frightening."

Last Tuesday, a glass panel fell from the tower site, scattering glass on the busy streets below, the Observer reported. No one was injured in that incident
