ST. JOHNS, Ariz., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Authorities say an estimated 600 people attended funeral services Monday for a man allegedly killed by his 8-year-old son in St. Johns, Ariz.

Funeral services were held for Vincent Romero, 29, who was found dead Wednesday along with Tim Romans, 39, a co-worker who rented a room in Romero's home, CNN reported.

Roman's funeral is scheduled Saturday in his hometown of San Carlos, Ariz.

Romero's son was to appear Monday in Apache County Juvenile Court for a status conference and return again Nov. 19 for a pre-adjudication hearing, the Arizona Republic reported Monday.

Police allege the boy confessed to shooting Romero and Romans with .22-caliber gun, CNN reported Monday, noting no motive was given.

Ben Brewer, one of the boy's lawyers, said prosecutors and police have no solid evidence the boy committed any crime.

"Their evidence is very minimal," Brewer said, describing the boy as a "scared little kid."
