SEOUL, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A photograph of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il, released to show that he is in good health, shows signs of doctoring, The Times of London reported.
In the picture, Kim's shadow is straight, while those of the soldiers with him are at an angle. A black line behind the soldiers' legs is not evident behind Kim.
The North Korean government also reported that Kim attended a soccer game and a musical performance.
Kim has not been seen in public since the middle of August. He failed to attend Sept. 9 ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of North Korea.
A South Korean Pyongyang watcher said North Korea deliberately timed its efforts to show that Kim is both alive and fully functioning at the same time of the election of Barack Obama in the United States.
"He's sending a message to the U.S.," said Moon Chung In of Yonsei University, who has met Kim twice. "They're saying our leader is alive and well, and we're ready to talk."
