MEMPHIS, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A conference of white-power supporters will go forward following a Memphis-area hotel's cancellation, former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke said Thursday.
The European-American Unity and Rights Conference had been scheduled Friday and Saturday at the Whispering Woods Hotel and Conference Center in Olive Branch, Miss. The hotel canceled the conference contract Tuesday with managers saying they did not realize who was behind it when it was booked.
At a news conference in Memphis, Duke said he expects about 300 people at the conference, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported. He said that the location will be given to registered participants.
In a statement on his Web site, Duke said he was "determined not to bow to the black radical, terrorist threats intended to silence him."
Police said that they plan to monitor the situation to prevent any trouble.
