SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Authorities say they have no clue to the identity of a decomposed body found stuffed inside a refrigerator in Orange County, Calif.
The Orange County Register said a woman's body was found inside a motor home refrigerator more than a week ago. Police were awaiting the results of DNA tests, which could help make a positive identification, but results of those tests could take up to two weeks.
The body was found by two tow truck company employees after the motor home was towed while its owner, Clarence Butterfield, was jailed on an arrest warrant.
Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said the woman's body may have been inside the small refrigerator for up to two years and homicide was suspected in the case.
"They don't have an exact cause of death but based on the circumstances, they feel she was murdered," Amormino told the Register. "The body basically thawed out."
Butterfield, whose 22-year-old daughter went missing this June, faces murder charges in relation to the gruesome discovery, the Register said.
