The kidnapping first came to authorities' attention when Garcia contacted police in West Palm Beach, Fla., an agency statement said.

West Palm Beach authorities immediately contacted immigration officials in Phoenix, where the boy was suspected of being held by the kidnappers.

The location of the kidnapped child was eventually tracked to Mesa by immigration agents, who conducted a raid on a hotel room to rescue him.

The Post said two men were arrested and charged with kidnapping and extortion in relation to the kidnapping. The suspects were identified as Marcelino Ramirez-Velasquez and Jose Luis Torres-Pais-Paez, who were of Guatemalan and Mexican nationality, respectively.
