BOSTON, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Detectives looking into the disappearance of a California couple want to see the divorce papers of a German native who went by the name of Clark Rockefeller.

Rockefeller drew international attention last summer when he disappeared for five days with his daughter Reigh, 7, following a supervised visit in Boston.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating whether Rockefeller, whose real name is Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, had a role in the disappearance and possible slaying of a San Marino couple in 1985, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday.

The newspaper says court records indicate California investigators want Suffolk Probate and Family Court to five them permission to review Gerhartsreiter's sealed divorce file next week.

Gerhartsreiter married a woman named Sandra Boss using the name Clark Rockefeller.

Boss is now suing him for $80,000 in expenses her lawyers say she incurred trying to locate Reigh after her ex-husband disappeared with the child.
