TIJUANA, Mexico, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Three people, including a police agent, were shot to death in the Mexican city of Tijuana as part of a continuing drug war, authorities said.

The Baja California attorney general's office said a state police agent and two other individuals were shot this week while sitting in a car in downtown Tijuana, the San Diego Union-Tribune said Wednesday.

The identities of the three victims had not been released, but authorities have linked the incident to a recent increase in drug-related violence in the area.

The attorney general's office also confirmed that the body of a 34-year-old man was found in western Tijuana this week. The man's identity and his cause of death were not reported.

The Union-Tribune said another state agent was shot and wounded in Tijuana Tuesday and that a man died of injuries he suffered in a Monday shooting near the Otay Mesa crossing.
