Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist

RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Democrat Mark R. Warner was the projected winner Tuesday in the U.S. Senate race in Virginia against Republican James Gilmore.
Democrats in the U.S. Senate watched election returns Tuesday, hoping to push their party closer to the filibuster-proof number of 60. The Democrats have 51-49 majority, with two Independents caucusing.
In a contest between former Virginia governors, Warner was projected to cruise to victory to take the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. John W. Warner, who is retiring, The Washington Post reported. The two Warners are not related.
Of the 35 Senate seats up for election, Republicans had to defend 23, including five open seats of retiring members.
