First voters go for Obama

DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- The first Election Day ballots of the 2008 U.S. presidential election have been cast with Democratic nominee Barack Obama the beneficiary, officials said.

In Dixville Notch, N.H., the vote was 15-6 in favor of the Illinois senator over Republican John McCain, the senator from Arizona, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported Tuesday. In Hart's Location, another early-voting New Hampshire burg, Obama got 17 votes to 10 for McCain and two write-in votes for U.S. Ron Paul, R-Texas.

The last time Hart's Location went Democratic, Hubert Humphrey out-polled Richard Nixon in 1968. President Bush won the town handily the past two elections.
