MOSUL, Iraq, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Twenty-four terror suspects were detained by coalition forces in three days of operations in central and northern Iraq, military officials said Monday.

Among those taken into custody Monday was a man who intelligence reports suggest oversaw the movement of bomb-making materials into Mosul, officials said. Eleven other suspects also were detained, American Forces Press Service said.

Also among those detained was a man and four associates believed to have connections to al-Qaida in Iraq, officials said. Troops discovered multiple rifles, munitions and bomb-making materials at the site.

Others were arrested Monday in Amariyah, Mosul, Beiji and Baghdad, where a cache of weapons was found.

Coalition and Iraqi forces reported detaining three suspected terrorists and capturing munitions and explosives in the Baghdad area Saturday.
