Firing squad practices for Bali bombers

CILICAP, Indonesia, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Indonesian firing squads have held practice sessions in preparation for the executions of the three Bali terrorist bombers, sources say.

Citing unnamed sources, the British tabloid the Daily Mail said the crack team of Indonesian police officers Monday were set to travel from their base in Semarang, Central Java, to Cilacap, the town nearest Nusa Kambangan Island where the bombers were awaiting their fate.

The executions could be carried out as early as overnight Tuesday, the Sydney Daily Telegraph reported.

The tabloid said the three brothers, Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra, convicted of slaying more than 200 people in 2002 terrorist attack, will be carried out in the middle of night by firing squads consisting of 14 members, who have executed prisoners before.

Sources said black crosses will be pinned to the men's chests over their hearts. The crosses will have reflective tags on them, which will make them easier to hit when illuminated by spotlights.
