Facebook posting linked to chaotic party

LONDON, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The parents of a 16-year-old girl said the teen threw a chaotic party at their British home after posting details of the event on the Web site Facebook.

While Dr. Michael Zell and his wife have not directly blamed the out-of-control party on the online posting, they said the event thrown by their daughter, Joanna, included dozens of uninvited guests, The Daily Telegraph said Sunday.

"She invited 50 classmates but 150 people turned up," said the teenager's mother, whose first name was not reported.

"We don't know whether it was Facebook-related," she said.

The event Thursday at the home near the London borough of Bromley included reported acts of sex and theft among the partygoers, the parents said.

A police spokesman told the Telegraph that jewelry and cash were stolen and the house was damaged.

"Officers found substantial damage inside the house. The occupant, a 16-year-old girl, advised that she had only invited a few friends via Facebook but that others had turned up," the police official said.
