SDEROT, Israel, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A rocket fired by Palestinians hit an open area near a western Israel kibbutz Thursday, in an apparent breach of the Israeli-Hamas cease-fire, officials said.

There were neither injuries nor damages reported, Ynetnews said.

In response to the Qassam attack, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered the goods crossings between Israel and Gaza remain closed, including Kerem Shalom and the fuel terminal at Nahal Oz.

The "Color Red" alert system sounded as Sderot's children were making their way to school. Residents fled to secure areas to take cover.
