BOGOTA, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- The Colombian government fired more than two dozen military officials for allegedly killing 11 men without cause.

Among those losing their jobs were three generals, El Tiempo reported Wednesday.

The men supposedly killed by the soldiers were said to have been lured to a battle zone as part of the military's ongoing war against leftist rebel groups.

Military officials defended the fired soldiers and denied the allegations.
