Poll: Obama leads McCain nationally

PRINCETON, N.J., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain by three points according to one polling model and by six points in another.

The Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Sunday to Tuesday showed Obama leading McCain 49 percent to 46 percent among likely voters.

Under a separate "expanded" model that does not take into account voter turnout past voter trends, the Gallup poll indicated Obama leads McCain 51 percent to 44 percent.

Gallup said the most recent tracking survey results are essentially the same as in Tuesday's report.

Gallup said it has found that about 4 percent of likely voters are still truly undecided.

The model of likely voters is based on a sample of 2,435 registered voters. The maximum margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The results based on the sample of 2,409 "expanded" likely voters has a maximum margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
