MIAMI, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Republican presidential nominee John McCain told a rally in Miami Wednesday "Joe the Plumber" was responsible for the country learning about his rival's goals.
"My friends, we've learned more about Senator (Barack) Obama's real goals for our country over the last two weeks than we've learned over the past two years," the Arizona senator said at the campaign event, "and that only because Joe the Plumber asked him a question in Ohio."
"Joe the Plumber" is the name given to Joe Wurzelbacher of Holland, Ohio, who was pushed into the spotlight after he encountered the Democratic presidential nominee during a campaign stop.
"(When) Senator Obama revealed that he wants to quote 'spread the wealth around,' he's talking about you. He's talking about your wealth," McCain said. "(We) need to support these small businesses, not tax them."
Obama believes in redistributing wealth, "not in policies that grow our economy and create jobs," McCain contended. "He said that even though lower taxes on investment help our economy, he favors higher taxes on investment for quote 'fairness.' There's nothing 'fair' about driving our economy into the ground."
"Senator Obama is running to spread the wealth. I'm running to create more wealth," he said.
McCain challenged the audience to "stand up, stand up and fight. America is worth fighting for."
