McCain: Obama 'redistributionist in chief'

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Republican presidential hopeful John McCain said in Hershey, Pa., the Democratic presidential candidate is interested in controlling wealth, not creating it.

"Senator (Barack) Obama is running to be redistributionist in chief," McCain said at a campaign event Tuesday. "I'm running to be commander in chief. Senator Obama is running to spread the wealth. I'm running to create more wealth. Senator Obama is running to punish the successful. I'm running to make everyone successful."

Polls indicate Obama leads McCain in Pennsylvania, but the McCain campaign is trying to pry the state and its 21 electoral votes away from the Democrat.

Americans can't spend the next four years "hoping for our luck to change at home and abroad" the Arizona senator said. "We need a new direction, and we have to fight for it."

Besides attacking Obama for his economic and tax policies, McCain also challenged the Illinois senator's experience.

"The next president won't have time to get used to the office," he said.

McCain said he knew Americans were worried about their future, but assured the audience that, under his leadership, "we will prosper. ... But we must be prepared to act swiftly, boldly, with courage and wisdom."
