Taliban fire forces down U.S. chopper

KABUL, Afghanistan, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- A U.S. military helicopter made a forced landing after sustaining Taliban gunfire in Afghanistan, officials said Monday.

A statement released by the Taliban said all aboard the helicopter were killed in an incident about 30 miles south of Kabul, but U.S.-led coalition officials contradicted that, saying none the 10 people aboard the chopper were hurt and that it made a safe landing, KUNA, the Kuwait news agency, reported.

The coalition statement said that while the helicopter was forced to land because of damage caused by Taliban fire, all the pilots and passengers were safe.

U.S. and Afghan security forces, meanwhile, said they killed four militants in the area, while coalition forces confirmed two of its soldiers died in a suicide bombing inside a Baghlan province police headquarters Monday morning, KUNA reported.
