BAGHDAD, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Nine people were injured in a pair of bomb blasts in Baghdad Sunday, sources said.

One of the bombs exploded at an intersection in eastern Baghdad as a police patrol was passing by, injuring four officers, the Kuwait news agency, KUNA, reported.

Meanwhile, an explosion near the Iraq Ministry of Health in northern Baghdad injured five employees, KUNA said.

The blasts came shortly after declarations of improved security conditions in Baghdad from Iraqi and U.S.-led coalition military forces, the news agency noted.
