TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Iranian poet Tahereh Saffarzadeh has died in Tehran following a lengthy battle with a brain disease, Press TV says.

The official government TV network said Saffarzadeh, known best for poetry collections such as "The Fifth Journey and Dawn's Visit," died Saturday in the wake of a 2007 brain surgery.

Saffarzadeh also gained notoriety for her presentation of various translation theories including the "Scientific Progression via Translation."

The Afro-Asian Writers' Organization's 2005 Exemplary Personality winner published 10 books on translations focused on science and literary works, Press TV said.

Saffarzadeh published a Persian and English version of the Koran in 2001, the network said.
