ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- The Anchorage Daily News endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama Sunday over the Republican ticket with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Although Palin has brought to the state "attention and recognition" as the Republican vice presidential nominee, that does not "overwhelm all other judgment," the newspaper's Sunday endorsement said.

"Many Alaskans are proud to see their governor, and their state, so prominent on the national stage," the newspaper said. But Obama "brings far more promise to the office" and "displays thoughtful analysis, enlists wise counsel and operates with a cool, stead hand."

The newspaper said the same cannot be said of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

The endorsement called Palin a "passionate, charismatic and indefatigable" figure, with a future, in Alaska, and on the national stage that "seems certain to be played out in the limelight."
