REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Security experts say a Trojan horse program is being spread across computers throughout the United States due to a Microsoft Windows flaw.

The Washington Post reported Friday that, according to experts, a released Microsoft security patch will protect Windows systems from being exploited by the Gimmiv.A Trojan horse program.

ThreatExpert Blog experts said the malicious computer program can not only spread from a single computer to other systems via a network system, but attempts to learn users' passwords once it takes hold.

The program also leaves a calling card to its exploited victims, posting an image file of fictional animated character Homer Simpson on infected machines.

Experts at Sunbelt Software have denied the Trojan horse program can infect an entire computer network, saying the program only acts as a data-stealing infection.

The Post said the security experts also warned of possible additional malware threats in the near future.
