ANKRA, Turkey, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Forty-two Kurdish rebels were killed in recent fighting with Turkish forces, including 25 in air strikes in northern Iraq, a Turkish army spokesman says.

Seventeen others were killed in security operations inside Turkey last week, an Ankara news conference was told, Hurriyet reported.

Intelligence reports suggest that several members of the Kurdistan Workers Party, PKK, were injured when Turkish warplanes raided the Qandil mountains in northern Iraq, the Turkish newspaper said.
