DETROIT, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was unfaithful to his mistress as well as his wife, text messages released Thursday suggest.

The messages were released as evidence in the trial of Christine Beatty, Kilpatrick's former chief of staff, the Detroit Free Press reported. She is accused of lying in depositions about her romantic relationship with Kilpatrick and her role in the firing of senior police officers.

Kilpatrick has pleaded guilty in a deal that required him to resign as mayor, but the texts are another embarrassment, suggesting that he spent much of his time in office seeking sex, the newspaper said.

In one 2003 message to a woman whose identity was concealed, Kilpatrick said: "I was about to jump your bones in Ford Field! LOL."

Other messages made public involve Kilpatrick's wife, Carlita. Detroit taxpayers apparently paid for her leased Lincoln Navigator.

An exchange in 2002 between Kilpatrick and Beatty suggests the Kilpatrick Civic Fund, donated money that was supposed to be used for civic projects in Detroit, was tapped to pay for a romantic getaway at a resort in Vail, Colo. Beatty was an officer of the fund.
