DENVER, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Republican presidential nominee John McCain, continuing to hit major swing states, addressed a crowd of 4,000 in Denver Friday.

The Arizona senator was joined by John Elway, former quarterback for the Denver Broncos, the Denver Post reported.

Speaking at the National Western Arena, McCain hit on familiar themes. Joe the plumber from Ohio reappeared in his speech, as McCain argued that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's tax policies would be bad for small business.

"After months of campaign trail eloquence, we've finally learned what Senator Obama's economic goal is. As he told Joe the plumber back in Ohio, he wants to quote 'spread the wealth around,'" McCain said. "Just this morning, he said it again. He believes in redistributing wealth, not in policies that grow our economy and create jobs."

McCain is struggling with some tough arithmetic. If Obama, wins all the states Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., carried in 2004, he only needs one more -- and polls show him ahead in several of the states President George Bush took, including Ohio, Florida and Colorado.

McCain's schedule includes three stops in Colorado.
