Hezbollah denies Nasralleh was targeted

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasralleh wasn't the target of a recent assassination attempt in Lebanon, a top leader in the militant group says.

While diplomatic sources in Lebanon claimed Nasralleh's life was saved following a poisoning attempt this week, Hezbollah official Ghaleb Abu Zeinab said such claims were incorrect, al-Arabiya said Friday.

"The only one to have benefited from such rumors is the intelligence of our enemy Israel," Abu Zeinab said Thursday.

Another senior Hezbollah official told al-Arabiya that Nasralleh is in "good health" and wasn't targeted by a chemical poisoning attack as claimed by the unidentified sources.

"I haven't seen him in a week but I know he's in good health," the anonymous official said following Tuesday's alleged medical emergency in Beirut.
