ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Suspected drone missile attacks killed eight people in a theology school in a Taliban-stronghold village in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region.
CNN, quoting military sources, reported two missiles were fired from the drone during the Thursday attack in which six others were injured.
The region is where veteran Taliban leader Jalaluddin Haqqani is suspected to be holed up. The BBC, quoting witnesses, reported the religious school is near the residence of Haqqani.
The report said there was no comment from the United States about the attack but that the Pakistani army was investigating the incident.
Hours earlier, the country's parliament adopted a resolution urging the government to defend its sovereignty and throw out foreign fighters from the region, the BBC said.
North Waziristan is near the border with Afghanistan. The U.S.-led Coalition Forces have said Taliban and al-Qaida militants hiding in the tribal regions use the territory to launch cross-border attacks.
CNN said U.S. forces are the only ones in the region capable of launching missiles from unmanned drones.
The BBC report, citing witnesses, said the missiles struck the school building in the Dande Darpakhel area near the town of Miranshah.
