Progress cited in Savio, Peterson cases

CHICAGO, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in Illinois say "highly productive" investigations soon will enable them to determine exactly what happened to one of Drew Peterson's wives.

"I fully expect there to be a resolution in at least one of these investigations in the near future," Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Glasgow, speaking to reporters Wednesday, didn't say which case his office is close to solving -- the death of Kathleen Savio in 2004 or the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, 23, last Oct, 28, the Sun-Times reported. Savio's drowning was ruled accidental but, after the investigation was reopened, later a homicide.

Lawyers for Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police sergeant, dismissed Glasgow's comments as nothing new, The Herald News in Joliet, Ill., reported. Peterson has said he had nothing to do with Savio's death nor Stacy Peterson's disappearance.

Relatives of both women Wednesday said Glasgow's optimism gives them hope the cases will be solved, the Sun-Times said.
