NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- More Democrats are reported voting early for president with perhaps one-third of the electorate casting ballots before Election Day, preliminary data indicate.
While the reports from key states make no prediction as to the outcome, early party affiliation seems to support polls showing U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., on the electoral offensive in states that U.S. President George Bush won in 2004.
Data analyzed by The New York Times say considerably more Democrats than Republicans have cast ballots in Iowa, North Carolina, New Mexico and Ohio.
Counties representing more than 90 percent of Nevada's population show Democrats also holding a commanding advantage, the Times said.
Republicans appear to have the commanding lead in Florida while it's neck and neck in Colorado, the newspaper report said. Bush won those states in 2004.
