CAMDEN, N.J., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Prosecutors showed video of terrorist beheadings Thursday at the trial of six men charged with plotting to attack Fort Dix, N.J.
After lawyers for the defendants objected, jurors in federal court were spared having to watch footage of the decapitations, The Star-Ledger of Newark reported. Instead, they watched the tape until just before the killings, which were described by Gassan Hajjar, an FBI specialist who testified.
Two men who were previously shown on the tape admitting spying for the United States and Israel were slowly beheaded with knives, Hajjar said. Their executioners took around 5 minutes to finish the job and then held the heads up.
Prosecutors argue that the defendants used the beheading videotape and other propaganda found on a computer to work themselves up for action.
The defendants include three brothers, Dritan, Shain and Eljvir Duka, all of Cherry Hill, N.J., who were illegal immigrants from Albania, as well as Mohamad Shnewer of Cherry Hill, a naturalized citizen born in Jordan, and Serdar Tatar of Philadelphia, a Turkish national living legally in the United States.
